Hello
NOTE:If the test cannot run and the Hard Disk Not Exist message is displayed, contact HP Customer Support for assistance.
Turn on the computer and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly, about once every second. When the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI screen displays, click Component Tests.- In the Component Tests, click Hard Drive.
- Click Quick Test.
- Click Run once. If the computer has more than one hard drive, click Test All Hard Drives.
When the test is complete, the results are displayed on the screen. Test results are also available under Test Logs on the Diagnostics UEFI main page.If the hard drive passes the Quick Test, go to the next step to run the Extensive Test. This test includes the SMART Check, Short DST, Optimized DST, and Long DST.
In case the Hard Disk Short/Long DST test fails that indicates that the Hard Disk Drive has failed and that requires a replacement to resolve the issue
HP will provide a replacement Hard Disk Drive if the PC warranty is Active, If not you need buy a SATA Hard Disk Drive from a retail shop nearby
Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again

@lyk1, welcome to the forum.
It could be a hard drive failure. Here is a guide to help you use the system diagnostics. If the tests show that the hard drive has failed, you should contact HP Cutomer Support for help. Your computer is still under warranty.
Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.
