Hi @hadeedman67,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your files after using the cleaning feature in the OMEN Gaming Hub—it can be distressing to lose important data. Let’s explore steps to recover your files.
Let's try these steps.
Check the Recycle Bin:
- Open the Recycle Bin on your desktop and look for the deleted files. If found, right-click the files and select Restore to recover them to their original location.
Look for Backups:
- Check if you have File History or Backup and Restore (Windows 7) enabled:
- Go to Control Panel > System and Security > File History to restore files from previous backups.
- Alternatively, check for backups stored on external drives or cloud services like OneDrive.
Use a File Recovery Tool:
- If the files aren’t in the Recycle Bin, you can use a file recovery tool. Popular options include:
- Recuva (free version available)
- EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard
- Disk Drill
- Install the tool on a different drive (not the one where files were lost) to prevent overwriting the deleted data. Run the tool to scan for recoverable files.
Restore from Shadow Copies (if available):
- Right-click the folder where the files were located before deletion.
- Select Properties, then go to the Previous Versions tab.
- If shadow copies are available, select a version and click Restore to recover the lost files.
Check the OMEN Gaming Hub Settings:
- Some cleaning tools move files to a temporary location before deletion. Explore the OMEN Gaming Hub’s Cleanup or Optimization section to see if there’s an option to undo or restore.
Prevent Future Data Loss:
- Regular Backups: Enable OneDrive or Google Drive synchronization, or use an external storage device for periodic backups.
- Use Cleaning Tools Cautiously: Review what the cleaning tool will delete before confirming.
If these steps don’t help, consider reaching out to HP phone support.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
