Microsoft Windows XP (64-bit)

My monitor has been doing this for a while and i'd find that one of the cables was disconnected. However this time all the cables are in place and the monitor says desact monitor and it cant find the signal for both the vga and the other one .. it just says that and the screen just turns off.

And i try to press the menu button on the monitor so i can do a factory reset and the button isnt working. The power button works fine  just not the menu button. Any suggestions please?

Hi there @spicykunoichi33,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that you are seeing a Desact monitor message on your display and then it turns off. I am happy to help you with this.

Please post the full product number for your computer and also for the monitor you are using. See the following, if you need help with that information. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

For now, you can try holding down the display power button for 30-60 seconds. Then power up the monitor and use the monitor's menu to do a factory reset.

Also again check the cable connections to be sure they are properly tightened down or secured.

Please let me know how that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

thank you for the welome.

The product number is FV583A, and im not sure what kind of monitor it is.

I have tried doing a reset but the menu button isnt working so i have been just pressing on the power button for 3-60 seconds then turning it on and still shows with a desact monitor message. I've checked that all calbes are good and still that.

Is that FV583A for the computer then? If so please double check it, as it may be missing something. I am not getting a direct match.

For the display or monitor,  is there not even a brand indicator or label on the back with some kind of product code or number?
