@Wsmith1, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding you HP Laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your laptop’s search function just keeps loading without showing results. No worries—I’m here to help!

Let's try a few steps to get it working again:

1️. Restart Windows Search

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager
  • Find Windows Explorer, right-click it, and select Restart
  • Scroll down, locate Search, right-click it, and choose End Task
  • Try searching again

2️. Check for Updates

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings
  • Go to Windows Update and click Check for updates
  • If updates are available, install them and restart your laptop

3️. Run the Search Troubleshooter

  • Press Windows + I, go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters
  • Scroll down, find Search and Indexing, and run the troubleshooter

4️. Rebuild Search Index

  • Press Windows + R, type control, and hit Enter
  • Click Indexing Options > Advanced > Rebuild
  • This might take some time, but it helps fix search-related issues

If the issue persists, let me know, and we can try a few more advanced steps! 😊

Looking forward to your update!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
