Microsoft Windows Vista

just started up old computer , tried all passwords I could think of. need password backup disc

The Password Reset Disk is something you would have had to have created back when you knew the password.  It is not something someone can send to you after the fact.

 

The following document does not go back as far as Vista, though the setup in Windows 7 is likely to have been similar:

We are prohibited from providing an information that breaches the security of the computer - and yes, it applies to really old computers running Vista, too.  That does  not mean the information is not available - it means we cannot give you information that allows you to break into the security of the computer.  Policy rules.

 

If you live in an area where you can get to a licensed Microsoft technician, he / she will have access to the tools to help you.  You might also find information on the Internet; remember:  Like everything on the 'net, the results are only as good as the information.  Be careful.
