Hi @JeffLucas,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Some new HP laptops, like the HP 17 Laptop PC, often come with a free trial of Microsoft Office 365 (now called Microsoft 365). However, this is typically a trial version (usually for 1 month) rather than a full version. After the trial ends, you would need to purchase a subscription to continue using Microsoft 365.
To Check if Your Laptop Includes Office 365:
Look for Preinstalled Apps:
- Open the Start Menu.
- Search for Office or Microsoft 365. If installed, it will show the app suite.
Check the Box or Product Info:
- Sometimes the details about included software, such as a Microsoft 365 trial, are mentioned on the packaging or in the documentation provided with the laptop.
Check Microsoft Account:
- Log in with the email used when setting up your laptop on the Microsoft 365 Account page.
- Check if a subscription or trial is active.
If Microsoft 365 is not included or you only have the trial version, you can purchase a subscription directly from Microsoft or through a retailer. If you don't want to subscribe, you can consider using Office alternatives, such as LibreOffice or the free version of Microsoft Office Online.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
