Microsoft Windows XP

In an effort to free up space I deleted files nessessary to run dvd and cd drives. Also I cannot do a system restore to any date at all. It is Win XP Pro and  it was running fine until I replaced it three weeks ago with a new HP 23-r110 All in One. My CAD software only runs on Win XP and I can't afford to updat them. One drive used Nero 8, I have the disc but if it don't racognize it , it won't accept the disc at all. In the device manager I get a code 41 message but noyhing to help with it. Have I screwed it up permenetly, what can I do?????

Hi:

You can download the standalone XP SP3 file from a 3rd party website because Microsoft removed it from their site.

I guess they are not kidding about not supporting XP anymore!

Select the 'Download@Authors Site' link, which is a shortcut to the actual Microsoft download server.

Then I suggest you save that file somewhere, because no doubt Microsoft will cut off that link to their server too, once someone there figures out it is still active.

Hi:

See if performing any of the resolutions listed at the link below resolve the issue.

Those fixes look like they'll work, but. I need ones I can download to a thumb drive So far that;s the only way to copy or add files, and the machine is not capable of connecting to the internet. Those files are also missing. Ultimately, if I can fix it, it will be used exclusively for CAD and CNC Control software. Can you suggest downloadable fixes??

Hi:

#'s 3, 4 and 5 require no internet connection, or the installation of any software.

Going to try #3 and 4 today. I hope they will work. I tried to add a printer to this older machine that hadn't been online for a while. It got almost all the way through the install process when it stopped, a window came up to say it needed an upgrade to  service pack three. That is what I am trying to do. Are there ways to get the upgrade? I am prepared to connect to the internet if I must. Please comment on this if you can.

Once again I'd like to say Thank you for that link. I installed the stand alone software and it solved all the issues I was having. As I earlier said I wil now be able to run my machine control programs. Thank you very much
