I recently had to delete my email address after having loads of junk mail referring to my hotmail account. I wasn't sure if my pc was affected so as i hadn't put much software on from new (only had it since march 2024), i decided to reset the pc and remove microsoft account, then made a new account with new email. The email has worked and no more junk mail.
I reset pc using win 11 and did the option to download win 11 and install through windows security. It's all working now APART form the security centre is missing from settings, when i click on 'open windows security' it just shows a blank white page. If i click on 'vius and threat protection' i get this message in a white box:
"your IT administrator has limited access to some areas of this app, and the item you tried to access is not available. Contact IT helpdesk for more information".
I've looked online and checked as much as i can but no luck, I am the only account on the pc and i am the administrator so i have no idea. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi @paulwath
Welcome to the HP Forum.
I have never seen a Windows 10 or Windows 11 reset or a clean installation of Windows 10 or Windows 11 happen without Windows Security installed. This is very unusual.
Did you keep personal files when you did the Windows reset?
I would see if you can install Bitdefender free at this Site if your PC has no malware protection at this time.
I would say something is amiss if you cannot install and use Bitdefender.
Let the Forum know how it goes.
There is not enough information available to reach a conclusion as to what is happening. But your situation is unusual.
Regards

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I did choose to delete everything which it did. But still no windows security .I've done it again and stoll no luck. I also ran mcafee scan as I had it and it scans and shows no problems.
I'm wondering if I purchase win 11 professional as I'm currently on win 11 home, it would install it. But not sure how to do this

Greetings @paulwath
My pleasure.
I have never encountered a missing Windows Security module when doing a Windows 10 or 11 reset or a clean Windows 10 or 11 installation.
Windows Home and Windows Pro versions both provide Windows Security. I don't see any reason (related to the Windows Security problem) to upgrade to W11 Pro.
Windows Security should be accessible even if you have McAfee AV installed. I now have Eset AV on my PC. I can access Windows Security.
Try the following using PowerShell:
1. Open PowerShell as an administrator.
2. Run (copy and paste) the following command:
PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage WindowsDefender).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register -ForceApplicationShutdown $manifest}
3. Wait for the command to finish running.
4. Please restart your computer and check if the problem has been resolved.
I am out of additional ideas on how to fix this unless you do a HP Cloud Recovery or a clean W11 installation using the media creation tool available at this Site.
Backup data to an external USB drive before you do either of the above operating system recovery options.
You have some weird stuff happening in your PC if you have the same problem (missing Windows Security options) after doing a clean W11 installation or a cloud recovery.
