HP Notebook 15. cant figure out where all the data went that was on here. i downloaded Windows 10 last night and everything was gone. i  cant even remenber my password to this computer anymore

If by "downloaded Windows 10" you mean it was installed, then the data might be gone.  Depending on what actually happened.

Please explain in detail just what the chain of events was - the better the detail the more help can be given.
