Hi @jewel241rana

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're having trouble formatting your HP 32 GB USB drive in NTFS format, here are several steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Check for Write Protection

  • Physical Lock: Some USB drives have a physical switch to enable or disable write protection. Ensure this switch (if present) is in the correct position.

2. Use Disk Management

Open Disk Management:

  • Press Windows + X and select Disk Management.

Locate the USB Drive:

  • Find your USB drive in the list. It may show as unallocated space or with a different file system.

Format the Drive:

  • Right-click on the USB drive and select Format.
  • Choose NTFS as the file system and click OK.

3. Use Command Prompt

Open Command Prompt:

  • Press Windows + R, type cmd, and press Enter.

Run Diskpart:

  • Type diskpart and press Enter.
  • Type list disk to see all connected drives.
  • Identify your USB drive by size and type select disk X (replace X with your USB drive number).

Clean the Drive:

  • Type clean and press Enter. This will erase all data on the drive.

Create a New Partition:

  • Type create partition primary and press Enter.
  • Type format fs=ntfs quick and press Enter.

Exit Diskpart:

  • Type exit to close Diskpart.

4. Check for Errors

  • Run Check Disk:
    1. Open Command Prompt as administrator.
    2. Type chkdsk X: /f (replace X with your USB drive letter) and press Enter. This checks for and fixes errors on the drive.

5. Try Another Computer or Port

  • Sometimes, the issue may be related to the specific USB port or computer. Try connecting the USB drive to a different port or another computer to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
