Hi @mohamedzentani,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that. Losing Chrome data and files from your HP PC can be frustrating. Let’s try to recover what we can and understand what might have happened.
Step-by-Step Recovery Guide
1. Recover Chrome Data
If Chrome data (bookmarks, history, passwords) is lost:
- Check if you were signed into Chrome:
- Open Chrome and go to chrome://settings.
- If you were signed in with a Google account, your data may be synced.
- Visit Google Dashboard to check synced bookmarks, passwords, etc.
- Restore Bookmarks Manually:
- Navigate to: C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
- Look for files like Bookmarks.bak and rename them to Bookmarks.
2. Recover Lost Files from Storage
If files from your PC storage are missing:
- Check the Recycle Bin: Sometimes files are accidentally deleted.
- Use File History or Backup:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Backup.
- If File History is enabled, you can restore previous versions.
- Use Free Recovery Tools:
- Recuva by CCleaner
- EaseUS Data Recovery
3. Check for System Restore Points
- Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.
- Choose a restore point before the data loss occurred.
To Prevent Future Loss
- Enable Google Sync in Chrome.
- Set up OneDrive or Google Drive for automatic cloud backups.
- Use Windows Backup or a third-party tool regularly.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
