Hi,
Thank you, but this is not a reply to my question.
In his post Paul Tikkanen ( another HP expert ) said that AHCI is set by default in DV5 series of laptops.
But in my one I found only UDMA5 working using MS standard IDE driver. I don't know why but AHCI seems to be disabled by BIOS but I wont to be sure.
And yes, I know that the one of multples way to enable AHCI in BIOS is modification of related part of it.
But, I do not have enough experience in BIOS modificatiions. What I know is that this version of BIOS ( F.38 ) contains AHCI / SATA setting but unaccessible from setup.
If Mr. Tikkanen are right I don't need to make any kind of modifications in this BIOS but how to make sure his statements ?
From what kind of sources Mr. Tikkanen gets this information ?
The question remains stil without answer ....
Regards,
Vladimir

Hi @Valdek64,
Thanks for the update,
HP has locked a few settings on your computer which are being managed by the system configuration as the device is configured to its optimal performance.
There's no way of resetting or changing these locked settings via HP articles or assistance,
I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help.
If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Hi,
Sorry but, it looks like HP people doing everything possible that we cannot take a full advantage of this machine.
Are you sure this is a politique of HP staff ?
I think so is not necessary to explain advantage of SATA vs IDE especially in case of low performances CPU !
So, I couln't accepted this politique ( and your explanations ! ) and wish to get necessary information in order to run my system with AHCI / SATA enabled !
Thanks,
Regards,
Vladimir
