This is very odd.

I have read discussions regarding the motherboard SSID where it updates from the A0.17 fine and others where the folks get the same error as you did.

This is the last thing I can come up with.

This discussion has all working BIOS update links of every update for the 2B2C motherboard, except 80.08.

Solved: Unable to update Bios - HP Support Community - 8379161

I'm at a point where if one of those BIOS updates doesn't work for you, you may want to forget upgrading the processor.

Here are the info links for the versions listed other than the one you have, the older one, and the newest one:

A0.16

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp85001-85500/sp85299.html

A0.15

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp84001-84500/sp84453.html

A0.14

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp83501-84000/sp83864.html

A0.12

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp80001-80500/sp80442.html

A0.11

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp78501-79000/sp78872.html

A0.10 has been removed from the FTP site as well as 80.09, 80.08 and 80.07.

I don't know what you want to try--probably start from the oldest to the newest, because most of them indicate that after the update is installed you can't go back.

Hi Paul_Tikkanen

Please help me with the download links to A0.15 and A0.16.
I want give it a last try with those. If I am unsuccessful, I will forget about update.

Hi:

If you look at the discussion link I posted yesterday, all of the download links are on there toward the bottom of the first page.

Hi Paul_Tikkanen

Thanks a lot.
I did not know that replacing the .html with .exe will change the link to the download link for each.

Well, I tried all of them but none of them worked for me. Out of curiosity, I tried the A0.17 again, just in case I was the one doing something wrong and it worked again, though I canceled it when my computer restarted and asked me to confirm the continuation of the update within 15 seconds.

At this point, I am forgetting about updating the BIOS.

If I ever make up my mind, I might do as Bill_To suggested and report whatever happens, successful or not. After all, this discussion just made me realize that different people with my motherboard had different results. It makes me wonder if HP made a silent minor change to the motherboard.
The only thing holding me back is that I cannot return the processor and get my money back if I install it first without success.

Thanks again. I really appreciate.

You're very welcome.

Another forum member posted today with the same issue and he has also ordered a processor.

Re: Aggiornamento BIOS HP110-500nl - HP Support Community - 9480065

It bothers me that HP removed those other updates and it also bothers me that they list processors that are supposed to work and when they do, they really shouldn't need a BIOS update.

One last shot...I found A0.07:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp73501-74000/sp73862.html

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp73501-74000/sp73862.exe

Now this one supposedly was the next release after 80.06.

The info link indicates it supersedes sp73061 (80.06).

Hi

The A0.07 behaved like A0.17. I tried the update twice.

My computer restarted and completed the process. By "completed the process" I mean my computer restarted and I saw the normal BIOS flash process with a progress bar. After it restarted normally again, I checked the BIOS version only to see that it is unchanged.

Five text file were generated in the folder; error.log, ID.log, ID1.log, ID2.log and ME_UPD.TXT.

Below is content of the ME_UPD.TXT:

Intel (R) Firmware Update Utility Version: 9.1.2.1000
Copyright (C) 2007 - 2014, Intel Corporation. All rights reserved.

Error 8743: Unknown or Unsupported Platform

That is very unfortunate.

I don't know what the problem could be.

You're just going to have to hope the processor works with the existing BIOS update.

HP Recommended

I hope so.
I will certainly report back, whatever the end result is.

Greetings @cupiddps@Paul_Tikkanen

Maybe the platform needs a newer IMEI update to support the newer BIOS versions??

Some BIOS updates encapsulate the required IMEI into the BIOS update.

I don't know where one would look to only update the Intel Management Engine. And I don't know what IMEI version your system may need.
