What’s the best way to move the Documents, Downloads, and Pictures folders from my C drive to my D drive? (See the background below.) I have read a few different methods in various chats, but wondering if anyone can recommend the proper method for this “reconfiguration”.
Here’s the background:
I have a new desktop, the Envy, and it arrived on July 12. The out-of-the-box configuration is that the Documents, Downloads, and Pictures folders (among other folders) reside on the C drive (for a valid reason, I suppose). Here are the drive details:
C drive: 256 GB M.2 SSD (PCIe® NVMe™)
D drive: 2 TB (7200 rpm SATA)
product: HP ENVY Desktop - TE01-0175xt (WIndows 10)
I believe that I should store the documents, downloads, and photos on D…just from a storage viewpoint. Also important: don’t want to slow down the apps on C because of all the files stored on it. Please recommend a method.
Also, if you know of the best way to direct future downloads to automatically go to the D drive, please share that. (I suppose it’s in the browser settings. I’m using Chrome.)
Thank you!!!

Here is the suggested way to assign folders to the 2 TB drive.
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/change-default-save-location-windows-10
It is possible to re-assign the download folder, but that is a 1 way trip, and a 1 way assign.
If you must do this, go to Download properties, and the location Tab. From there you can re-assign to 😧 but I warn you, I did it as a learning curve on a unit, and could not re-turn it to normal.

Thanks, Wb2001. Here's a copy/paste from that web page: "Here you will see New documents will save to setting – and similar settings for Music, Pictures & Videos." That's a big help, about new docs. How do I move the existing folder (and its contents) over the D drive? (I suppose I can just drag-and-drop, but it seems like that might not be the most appropriate and proper way to do that.)
Thanks, again. And thanks for the advice about leaving Downloads alone! I will.
