Today my camera stopped working and was showing the error message 0xA00F4244, so i uninstalled my camera driver trying to fix it but to no avail. I tried to reinstall my driver but it is not available on the drivers download in the website nor anywhere else. I tried  using HP support assistant, windows updates everything but the driver is not showing up anywhere. Can i download it from anywhere else? ( The driver i uninstalled was "HP Wide Vision HD Camera V10.0.26100.8328 ")

Hi @RaZoR187

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I acknowledge the situation with the camera driver showing error 0xA00F4244 and the fact that the “HP Wide Vision HD Camera V10.0.26100.8328” driver is not appearing in HP Support Assistant, Windows Update, or the HP Support site. Let’s go through recommended steps to restore the driver:

Check Device Manager for Hidden Devices

  • Press Windows + X > Device Manager.
  • Select View > Show hidden devices.
  • Expand Cameras or Imaging Devices.
  • If the HP Wide Vision Camera appears grayed out, right‑click > Uninstall device.
  • Then click Action > Scan for hardware changes to allow Windows to reinstall the driver automatically.

Run HP App – Diagnose & Fix

  • Open the HP App on your PC.
  • Go to Support > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Run the tool to detect and repair missing or corrupted drivers.
  • Official HP resource: HP App – Diagnose & Fix

Download Drivers from HP Support Page

  • Visit the HP Support site: HP Software and Driver Downloads
  • Enter your exact product model.
  • Under Driver – Keyboard, Mouse, and Input Devices or Driver – Camera, check for the HP Wide Vision Camera driver.
  • If not listed, download the latest HP System Event Utility and HP Hotkey Support drivers, as these ensure proper communication with the camera hardware.

Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers

  • On the same HP Support page, download and install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your model.
  • Restart the system after installation.

Test Camera Access

  • Open the Camera app from Start menu.
  • If the error persists, test with another application such as Microsoft Teams to confirm detection.

These steps are specific and accurate from HP resources. Please try them and let me know if the camera driver reinstalls successfully.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thank you for the response, I noticed that the driver has been reinstalled now after a reboot though i don't know the specific reason as to how it got reinstalled but the camera app still shows the error 0xA00F4244. I did do a BIOS update a few days ago, can that be the reason?

Thanks for replying.

A BIOS update can sometimes affect hardware detection, so let’s go through HP‑recommended steps to ensure the camera is properly recognized:

Verify Camera Privacy Settings in BIOS

  • Restart your PC and press Esc repeatedly, then F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Navigate to Advanced > Built‑in Device Options.
  • Ensure the Integrated Camera option is enabled.
  • Save changes and exit.

Reset HP App

  • Go to Windows Settings > Apps > Installed Apps.
  • Locate HP App.
  • Select Advanced Options > Reset.
  • After reset, open HP App > Support > Diagnose & Fix to run a fresh scan.

Reinstall HP System Event Utility and Hotkey Support

  • Visit the HP Support site: HP Software and Driver Downloads
  • Enter your product model.
  • Download and install the latest HP System Event Utility and HP Hotkey Support packages.
  • Restart the PC after installation.

Update Chipset and Graphics Drivers

  • On the same HP Support page, install the latest chipset and graphics drivers.
  • These drivers ensure proper communication between the camera and system.

Test Camera Access Again

  • Open the Camera app.
  • If the error persists, test with Microsoft Teams or Zoom to confirm detection.

These steps are specific and accurate from HP resources. Please try them and let me know if the camera is detected after verifying BIOS settings and reinstalling the support utilities.
