You have to install the Intel storage controller drivers that are needed for Windows to find the drive on PC's that come with Intel 11th -13th gen core processors.

If you want to clean install Windows, you can use the drivers that I zipped up and attached below.

Copy the 5 files from the F6/VMD/f6vmdflpy-x64 folder to a USB flash drive.

iastorvd.cat

iastorvd.inf

iastorvd.sys

rstmweventlogmsg.dll

rstmwservice.exe

Have the flash drive and your W10 installation media plugged into USB ports.

Boot from the W10 installation flash drive.

When you get to the screen where no drives can be found, click on the Load driver option, browse to the flash drive with the storage controller drivers on it.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

Click Next, and Windows should find the drive and install.

Thank you for you reply Paul_Tikkanen,  I have already done this but still no hard drive available.

I can see the five files when installing windows:

Intel RST VMD Controller 467F

Intel RST VMD Controller 9A0B

Intel RST VMD Controller A77F

Intel RST VMD Managed Controller 09AB

...but none of them work

You're very welcome.

Sorry, that didn't work, and I don't know why.

If the PC's came with W10/W11 product keys in the BIOS, you could use the HP cloud recovery client utility to install Windows.

If they came with FreeDOS, then you can't.

Here's the link to the file download.

Here is the link for how to use the utility:

I've zipped up and attached a newer storage controller driver.

I have my doubts, but you have nothing to lose by trying it.

Hi Paul,

I have the same result.

I think i will install 2.5 SATA on these desktops in place of  M.2 SSD.

It's disappointing that HP sells PCs that don't work with this type of hard drive.
