I know it saves files but what about programs?

Hi

Depends on the 'reset' you do.

An F11 Factory Fresh will wipe everything.

A re-install over the top of the existing usually creates a Windows.OLD folder to preserve stuff.

 

Make backups whatever you decide to do.

Create Recovery Media as well.

 

I dont know what the 'reset' will do, so note any licences, settings, user and password details etc.

Even the least destructive form of Reset known as Refresh, which claims to keep everything -- in typical MS fashion, actually does NOT do that; instead, it removes everything but the OS and Windows Store apps.

So, if you installed MS Office locally, after a reset, it will be gone.
