HP TouchSmart IQ830 Desktop PC series
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I followed de instrutions (both methods) in the BIOS update instructions. Either I don't find (in my BIOS 5.07) or the screens do not match at all.

I can't acces my HP support assistant (installed but the question icon doesn't appear in the taskbar...

I have serious RAM problems (ordered new ones).

I sometimes saw it but after less than a second it disappears.

Please help me how to find my ROM family SSID

Thanks in advance

Thanks and best regards

Sorry I came late to the issue(s).

@CF4,

The HP BIOS SSID is based on the motherboard.   It is possible that several different motherboards can be used in an HP build. The update BIOS page might link several variations, each linked to a different motherboard. That is why the SSID. It is linked to the motherboard used in that particular build.

@Cryptonomicon,

Your stuck with the present BIOS.

Machines that were issued with Vista or 7 will not accept a BIOS linked to WIN 8 thru 10.

Hi

So you had Windows 7 32 bit installed?

OR Vista 32 bit?

Now you have Windows 10 installed?

BIOS  Version: 5.07

Operating systems:  Windows Vista (32-bit)

Release date: Aug 27, 2009

File name: sp43200.exe  (2.4 MB)

I can only see one BIOS option, above, and therefore you are upto date.

What do you mean by SSID?

What are you trying to achieve?

Thanks for replying. I went from Vista -> Win 7 -> Win 10 (for free).

The SSID is required to upgrade to BIOS 7.xxxx.

Thanks and best regards

Hi

OK.

What does SSID stand for?

SSID is short for service set identifier, which is a WiFi.

What exactly are you trying to achieve?

Where is the BIOS 7.XXXX located?

Thanks a lot, wb2001 ! Very impressed by your amount of posts.

So I'm now hesitating between :

- going on like that with new RAM (mine is comùpletely stuck) and reinstall the Office Outlook (mine got corrupt and completely disappeared) as well as the *.pst files;

- buying a new Desktop (mine was bought in 2009)

Humm...

Thanks and best regards

@Cryptonomicon,

Thank you for the comment.  Deeply appreciated.

You never explained the RAM issues.  But you did order new RAM.

WIN 10 does allow you to re-install the WIN 10 OS without erasing your files. But that would not help with the BIOS 7.xxx install.
