Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Gday all,

Of late, my fan speed has remained outrageously high - by sound - too often and too long. Exhaust air, from the vents at the top of this system, do not feel, even, warm. I have been monitoring CPU, RAM & GPU temps, with no obvious extremes. I tried blocking one-half the top, air-vents, then removing the block with no change in fan speed or duration at high speeds.

I have tried several software packages, e.g., SpeedFan, which do not even detect a fan on the motherboard! Also, nothing intended for WIN10, works either. Ditto for GPU software.

I have ZERO intent to overclock the system as I am not a gamer - well, computer games.

Is there, in reality, ANY software that will work with HP computers [already struck-out with MSI &GigaByte]?

What is the MTBF for an HP fan and/or what does a, suddenly, over-racing fan indicate, vis-a-vis  system, or component, failure?

Thanks for time, attention & input.

Take it easy.

@DrNUTR -- obviously, something is wrong. Either the fan is not obeying instructions from the motherboard to "spin more slowly", or the motherboard is not telling the fan to "slow down", or the motherboard is misreading the temperature of the motherboard & processor, and is detecting "very-hot" values, and is telling the fan to run at 100% and 100% noise.

Have you tried replacing the fan?
