HP Pavilion TP01 2244 Tower
Microsoft Windows 11

I recently purchased the HP Pavilion TP01 2244 Desktop Tower and the fan is always running.  Is this normal?  CPU 27% and Rear Chassis 43% respectively.  Thank you for feedback.

@Captzohan, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

In general, it is normal for the fan to run on a desktop PC to ensure the system stays cool and prevents overheating, especially when the CPU usage is at 27% and the chassis temperature is at 43%. However, if the fan is excessively loud or running at high speeds continuously, it might indicate an issue that needs to be addressed.

Check Airflow and Ventilation:

  • Ensure that the desktop tower is placed in a well-ventilated area and that the air vents are not blocked.
  • Clean any dust from the vents and inside the case.

BIOS Settings:

  • Check BIOS settings for fan speed control options. You may be able to adjust the fan settings or check for any abnormal readings.
  • Ensure that the BIOS software is up to date.

Monitor Temperatures:

  • Use system monitoring tools to check the CPU and overall system temperatures.
  • Ensure temperatures are within the normal operating range. If they are too high, consider improving system cooling or replacing thermal paste on the CPU.

Software and Applications:

  • Check for background applications that may be causing the CPU to work harder and thus increase fan speed.
  • Perform a virus scan to ensure no malicious software is running that could cause high CPU usage.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
