Features and Definitions in Win 10 v2004 will NOT install & HP has no plans to update drivers.

Windows 10 is on auto updates and has already installed Quality & Other updates in v2004. However, it is unable to install Features & Definitions and is in a constant loop.

Spoke with MS tech and put install loop on pause for 9 days, BUT, this can only be done for 35 days (I now math is off, I'm just repeating) after that Win 10 will stop working (it is said). MS tech told me MS side & HP side and said there is nothing MS can do, call HP,  it is up to them.

Everything I read on HP online support pages is that if computer is older than 2013 (mine is a 2007) you're pretty much out of luck.

In looking at MS system info file I see that I have 33 drivers that are CRITICAL (I thought I was on auto update).

SO, I guess my question is. Is there anything I can do to make this computer usable OR am I just going to have to buy a new computer, since going back to Win 8.1 is not going to happen. Besides that the old thing is beginning to have lighting  issues on the monitor.

It's not unusual that MS gives up on a problem with THEIR OS and passes the buck to someone else!

MS only came out with Win10 a few years ago and PCs older than 2010 have a hard time running it, if at all.  So getting it to work at all on a 2007 era PC is somewhat amazing.

The auto-updates applies to Windows Update and what you will get though that is mostly security updates and OS middleware updates.  For hardware as old as yours, there are NO new drivers being written, so you will not be seeing driver updates.

You're right about the lack of HP support for your model PC because they typically only support a model for five years -- so there are not going to be any driver updates from HP, either.

I recently RETIRED an old Tablet PC that came with XP on it and served me faithfully day after day for over ten years.  It was heartbreaking to put it back in the box,  but it was beyond saving anymore and could not be upgraded beyond Win7, with MS now no longer supports.
