On Jan 9th HP App *something* asked to make changes to my computer, I clicked yes because it said 'trusted publisher'. Was the HP App version 151.1.1087.0 update released on this exact day. That would make sense to me. Otherwise, what was this (legitimate?) request associated with? Thanks

Legitimate -- HP App updates on occasion.

I suspect that application releases at the Store -- including this one -- are rolled out according to a criteria and schedule devised by Microsoft.  Regional, perhaps??

You always have to option to check / get your apps updates at the Windows Store

Open the Store > go to your Library > Get Updates

I've done that sometimes.

I have two updates sitting in my queue at the moment (at this writing):

Xbox Game Bar Plugin

Paint

On occasion, you might catch an exact-day release of an application by proactively going after app updates.

HP App on my system was updated on 8-January-2024 to version 151.1.1087.0
