I have recently installed a fresh install of HP Device Manager 5.0.3 on a dedicated Windows 2019 Server.

Software is installed

I have added a subnet to the discovery and a few devices appear which seems ok

However on further reading the manual, it states to setup an FTP server, is this the case, the config manager shows HTTPS is configured for the repository, all devices are on the local LAN / Subnet so not sure if i wold need FTP set up.

Also i notice as my DHCP server is separate to my HPDM server, i do not need to set up any option tags in DHCP, is this correct? how does the Thin Client know where the HPDM server is?

Lastly, when this eventually gets working, i assume i can upgrade my thin clients from Windows 7 to Windows 10 by simply capturing an image of one of my other TC's and then deploying over the Win7 devices?

Sorry my experience is with WYSE device Manager and the HP one appears to be more complex, only time will tell

If someone has a simple setup guide on what they did to achieve it working in their environment, that would be fab

Please refer to the latest Admin Guide.

For repositories, HPDM supports multiple protocols.  If you're managing ThinPro 5 units then FTP protocol is required.  The "Choosing repository protocols" section in the admin guide has more details.

To get all your devices registered with HPDM, you might want to set the DHCP tag if they are not all in the same network with the DM Gateway and thus cannot find it with a broadcast.  The "Appendix C: Configuring DHCP tags" has more details on how to configure it.

As for the upgrade from WES7 to Win10, there can be a license involved.  Please contact your local HP support for the license.  And the imaging process you describe would work.  One thing to note is that an image contains only essential drivers for a specific model.  Please do a test before you mass deploy an image across models.
