HP Diag Showing Wrong Memory Value

HP 6000B I'm running diagnostics on the unit because it's acting slow.  Task manager and BIOS display are showing 16Gb of physical memory..  HP PC Hardware diagnositics is showing 53248 Mb.  I checked the chips and they're propely seated.  Another PC (500-590) with the same amount of memory is showing 16384Mb of memory.  An uninstall and reinstall of HP PC diagnoistics made no different.  Any clues would be appreciated

HP releases newer UEFI diagnostics periodically.
When you select F2 during boot you are requesting UEFI diagnostics.
There is an updated diagnostics package Click Here
Look for the phrase 'issues outside the OS',
Click the DOWNLOAD button.
The version of the UEFI diagnostics is shown at the left of that DOWNLOAD button.
When you press F2 to run diagnostics please ensure the version is the new one.

I upgraded my 6000 pro SFF with a q9650 cpu, a 500gb WD SSD, a USB3 adapter and a low profile RX-560. Unfortunately, I had to remove the rx560 as it draw too much power.

This is an old unit I acquired from a friend several years ago .  I put in a new hard drive and as much memory as it'll hold. Lately it has slowed to a crawl. I'm wondering it it's a hard drive or other hardware issue and it may be time for a new desktop.

try a clean install of windows 11 as shown below:

Older computer that do not have UEFI bios need MBR.  Set Rufus to use MBR and BIOS instead of GPT and UEFI.   If your disk drive is 2tb then GPT can still be selected but not UEFI.
Win11 can work even on really old systems and tiny windows 10/11 can run in 2gb of memory.


For windows 11 go here for the ISO, select the language edition and be sure to only install PRO if you have a license for PRO. Usually the download link is good for 24 hours.
