I'm using my tower PC as my computer and have connected my HP Envy all-in-one as a monitor.  The monitor is working perfectly but I can't use the camera or microphone.  It keeps on telling me to connect a devise.  I've used a usb but its still not picking it up.  Any assistance would be great thanks

Hi @Celeste8,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To use the camera and microphone of your HP Envy all-in-one when it is connected to your tower PC as a monitor, follow these steps.

Check the USB Connection:

  • Make sure that the USB cable connecting your HP Envy all-in-one to your tower PC is properly connected. The USB connection is necessary for the camera and microphone to be recognized by the tower PC.

Install Necessary Drivers:

  • Your tower PC might require specific drivers to recognize the camera and microphone of the HP Envy all-in-one. You can try the following:
    • Go to the HP Support website and search for drivers specific to your HP Envy all-in-one model.
    • Download and install any available drivers related to the camera, microphone, or USB connectivity.

Check Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager on your tower PC.
    • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
    • Expand the Imaging devices and Audio inputs and outputs sections.
    • Look for any entries related to the HP Envy all-in-one's camera and microphone. If you see any with a yellow warning icon, right-click on them and select Update driver or Uninstall and then restart your PC to reinstall automatically.

Enable Camera and Microphone in Privacy Settings:

  • Make sure that the camera and microphone are enabled in the Windows Privacy Settings:
    • Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Camera and Microphone.
    • Ensure that apps have permission to use the camera and microphone.

Try Different USB Port:

  • If the camera and microphone are still not detected, try plugging the USB cable into a different USB port on your tower PC. USB ports can sometimes fail, so using a different one may resolve the issue.

Test on a Different Computer:

  • If possible, connect your HP Envy all-in-one to another computer to see if the camera and microphone are recognized. This will help determine if the issue is with the all-in-one itself or with the tower PC.

Restart Both Devices:

  • Sometimes a simple restart of both the HP Envy all-in-one and the tower PC can resolve connectivity issues. Restart both devices after checking all the above steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
