Regarding the Scan Shortcuts menu, how can I rearrange the order of the scan titles? Thanks in advance for any solution that works!

When you organize your workflow, you want things to line up neatly, like arranging books on a shelf so your favorite ones sit right within reach.

Can you rearrange the Scan Shortcuts order on the M428fdw?

At this time, HP does not provide an option to manually reorder Scan Shortcuts on the printer or in the HP software.
There is currently no supported method to drag, move, or renumber the shortcut order.

I know that’s not the ideal answer, and it may feel like hitting a small roadblock on an otherwise smooth workflow, but you're not doing anything wrong. The feature simply isn’t built into the M428fdw interface yet.

What you can do instead

Even though reordering isn't available, you still have a couple of helpful alternatives:

1️⃣ Rename your shortcuts

Renaming can help force a natural alphabetical order, for example:

• 01 – Scan to Email
• 02 – Scan to Network Folder
• 03 – Scan to USB

This gives you manual control using naming conventions.
 

2️⃣ Delete and recreate shortcuts in the desired order

Newly created shortcuts sometimes appear lower on the list, so you can “sequence” them, but this is not guaranteed and varies between firmware versions.
