Had this happen to me as well today. Found that if you pull up the command prompt and run as administrator. You’ll just type in

taskkill /F /IM OmenInstallMonitor.exe

and press enter. This worked for me.

Appears to be a HUGE memory leak where it opens instances of itself until it has reached 100% of resource utilization.

RTX 3090 got up to 100% utilization with no other applications open via this bug.

Get on this, OMEN, this is unacceptable. Huge problem for users, especially those that don’t have the computer knowledge necessary to understand the issue.

HERE IS A FIX FOR NOW:

Go to task scheduler (can be found via the search bar on the bottom left of the task bar)

Find OMEN Installer files, click on them and hit DISABLE on all of them.

Restart your computer.

This will prevent future openings of this application and restore use of your computer until a fix is resolved.

Literally just dealt with this. So grateful for this thread and the timing is uncanny as I check the dates on the  matching responses. I wonder if its a buggy update. either way, uninstalling the OMEN app and simply hard resetting (because soft reset bricked) my tower solved the problem. back down to normal levels. wouldn't even HAVE Omen if amazon wasn't giving away games. honestly cant say its worth the trouble.

thank you so much it was killing my pc, omen it's **bleep** **bleep** off the hp

I also just had this problem on my brand new computer (Nvidia 4090, Ryzen 7800x3D, 24g RAM) and was panicked to see I was at 100% on CPU and GPU usage. I found the same HP.OMEN.OMENInstallMonitor task duplicating infinitely. uninstalling the Omen gaming hub app fixed my issue. I also didn't know I had that app installed.

To be fair, I had an HP Omen monitor years ago, but to have an issue like this from HP is shocking. They should really be more on top of their game. Thank you for providing a quick fix.

For others coming across this:

1). Type apps into your search bar.

2). Type Omen into "search this list".

3). Uninstall the Omen Gaming Hub.

C'mon HP!

Make a secure boot on your PC or load a backup of when the issue didn't happen (the second method is what i have used), then uninstall omen gaming hub and change the omen folder's name of the folder (located in AppData) that appears by searching path on the process (using task manager) so that it won't automatically try to update itself in the future.

I went to the file location of one of the processes in Task Manager, found the HPOmenInstaller.exe, deleted it, deleted the installer application as well, hit Try Again on the prompt, restarted my computer, and now I'm all good. May HP be vanquished one day.

Just created this account to hop in, my pc bricked itself today as well, probably a bad update that got rolled in this morning, restart in safe boot: run>msconfig>boot>safeboot>minimal>restart and uninstall omen gaming hub, your pc should back to normal.

thanks yall for the help, my computer was on the verge of exploding with 100% cpu usage and 100% disk usage, this should be considered a crime
