@RobAppeltje, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing crashes while playing Fortnite on your OMEN 45L Gaming Desktop GT22-0910nd, and you've seen Epic's note about updating the BIOS to an AGESA version recommended for AMD “Zen5” processors.
Let me clarify a few things and guide you on the next steps.
Clarification on AGESA and BIOS Updates
- The AGESA version mentioned by Epic Games ComboAM5 1.2.0.2A is specific to AMD AM5 platforms (i.e., Ryzen 7000 series).
Your OMEN desktop features a Ryzen 9 5900X, which is based on the AM4 platform (Zen 3), so this exact AGESA version does not apply to your system. - However, BIOS updates from HP can still improve system stability and game compatibility, so it’s still a good idea to check.
Step-by-Step: How to Check & Update Your BIOS
- Visit the official HP support page: https://support.hp.com
- Enter your product name:
OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop GT22-0910nd - Select your operating system (Windows 11 Home).
- Scroll to the BIOS section and check if a newer version is available than your current one.
You can check your current BIOS version by pressing Windows + R, typing msinfo32, and looking under BIOS Version/Date. - If there’s a newer version, download and install it. Follow the on-screen instructions carefully and don’t turn off the PC during the update.
Important: Do not attempt to install BIOS updates from third-party motherboard vendors (like MSI, ASUS, etc.). OEM systems like yours require HP-authorized BIOS files only.
You can enable automatic updates using the HP Support Assistant software on your PC:
Open HP Support Assistant
Go to the Updates tab
Install any available firmware or BIOS updates
Here are a few steps you can try:
- Update Fortnite and ensure your game files are verified (via Epic Games Launcher).
- Update your graphics drivers using NVIDIA GeForce Experience.
- Switch to DirectX 11 in Fortnite:
- Open the Epic Games Launcher
- Click Settings > Fortnite
- Enable Additional Command Line Arguments
- Add this line: -dx11
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you very much!
I've updated my bios earlier, the crashes are still happening. The latest NVidia driver makes my PC performance very bad, stutters all over. I've rolled back the driver to an older version and this was solved.
I have already found out that DirectX 11 solves the problem.
This having said, I still wonder why the update from Fortnite causes these problems. Anyway the problem is solved!
Many thanks for your reply! I've learned a lot about my PC.
