Good day,

According to HP support staff, there is still no public SP number for version 9.16.80.0.

The HP support employee is trying to get a download link for version 9.16.80.0, which he wants to email to me.

I need the pure installation file for data backup.

regards Thomas

I found it but you might not like the answer

The app is sp138267.exe and when you install it on a non hp system it is the 9.13.85 version

when install on an hp system it is the 9.16.80 version

I ran sp138267.exe on my Dell Area51 and got 9.13.85.0

On my z400 the exact app  installed as 9.16.80.0

In both cases the shortcut points to the same "framework"

Note that the target is "the internet" and if you open the file location you will open a browser not the file explorer

I do not know what will happen if the app is executed on an hp system that is NOT online.  Possibly it might revert to 9.13

If you enter "hpsupportassistant://Main/?LaunchPoint-2" into edge or chrome on the hp system it will run that assistant

If you try the same on non hp system you get an error similar to extension not found or whatever

INHO this is not good versioning practice.

I hope this is useful.

Hi @BeemerBiker
What you say is interesting, but it's still curious
because to check what was asked here, I uninstalled hp support assistant!
Downloaded the file again
but as always, it installed the original version for me which is mentioned from the page here

HP Support Assistant | HP® Official Site

HP Support Assistant
Version 9.13.85.0

so not the app microsoft store version

I was looking for a file maybe with indications, from the unzipped files of the pack..
and I clicked by "chance" on an AppxBundle file
who says this

Capture d’écran 2022-05-31 184154.png

this indicates the original version, but that the newer one is already installed..
I wonder why, it happens as you say, because it is tested on an HP computer precisely..

the setup.exe file only has the mentioned version:

I keep looking for an explanation
@Thomas103  so if they ever give you this famous file, tell us, tell us, it will be quite useful I think

"I need the pure installation file for data backup."
but I don't understand what you mean, you don't need to download file by file, for backups, if that's what you want, there are much more practical solutions

I did the same thing. Uninstalled HPSA from the Z400 then installed sp138267.  However I answered "yes" right at the end so possibly my setting did not change but the program did install.

My HP Pro3400 got 9.16.80.0 with that same sp138267

@Prométhée

what happens if you enter hpsupportassistant://Main/?LaunchPoint-2 into chrome or edge?

nothing happens on my Area51 but the HP show 9.16.80

This is really strange.  Earlier (7:30 am or so) I got an error when using

hpsupportassistant://Main/?LaunchPoint-2

in both edge and chrome on my Dell area51

About 11am I installed two major microsoft updates and rebooted.

There is NO error any more when entering hpsupportassistant://Main/?LaunchPoint-2 into edge or  chrome.

The version is still the 9.13 on the Dell.

Hello everyone,

HP support replied to me. Personally, I'm reading between the lines.

Dear Mr Krocker,

I tried calling you guys to let you know we discussed the intern. I got the information that HPSA is making this update automatically for the devices that support it and an SP number is not online yet, so you can download it, not for now!

The SP number will come out at some point, but unfortunately we don't have this information when exactly, we just have to wait until HP gives it out.

Kind regards

E. Bisaku

Yes, so thanks for the translation
that's what I thought and said from the start, unfortunately
unless you find a trick, which would allow you to recover the file directly from the microsoft store, you have to find something else
