I just got this desktop and started it this afternoon. When I go to HP Support Assistant to search for updates and messages, it keeps saying that I must be signed in to use the update. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it. It still has the same message. How do I sign in on the HP Support Assistant window, please?

I had been looking for how to get back to this message. I discovered the problem. On the Support Assistant, the computer that was being updated was not even the computer I was on. I don't know why, but my pc wasn't even listed. Some other computer was listed. I didn't know another computer would show up for updating on the machine I was on. The computer was named with my computer's name, but it was the numbers that I realized was off. I had to remove that machine and add mine.

@stephenway, welcome to the forum.
I am not certain why you are receiving this message. You should not have to sign into HP Support Assistant. I suggest that you install the latest version here. Please let me know if you still have problems.
Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Thank you for assisting, but this is a new pc I just hooked up yesterday, and since the message appeared ("You must sign in to this device to install updates"), I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the HP Support Assistant. I am not sure what it means by 'signing into this device'. Setting it up, for now I should be the only user and administrater. Logging in with my PIN should sign me into this device.
