Hi,

I have had to uninstall HP Support Assistant as it wasn't opening & now whenever I try and re-install I am getting the below "-2" installation error.

I have checked under apps and cannot see any reference to HSA and I have gone into the C drive and Program Files to see if there is any record there, and I cannot see anything either.

I have look at the other posts shared and followed the actions but still the same install error appears.

Welcome any guidance?

Occasionally you may need to use an uninstaller to remove damaged software. When an install fails it is likely due to corruption of the app or the app it was trying to upgrade.

There are several uninstaller applications. I use REVO Pro but the free version is excellent. Revo will attempt to run the original uninstall but if that fails it will continue on to uninstall whatever it can find that is associated with the problem app. It will show items in the registry that it wants to delete. Registry backup and restore points created before any uninstall.

At the conclusion of the uninstall, a checkbox of items to be cleaned from the registry will be presented. Normally all are selected and deleted.  You should select them all and confirm deletion

Before running REVO or any uninstall application, be sure to run the Microsoft system file checker,SFC

This third party site explains how to use DISM and SFC to repair your windows system.
You need to be in windows to do the repair. Normal or safe mode will work. If it reports it cannot fix the problem then do the DISM.
