When the HP Performance Advisor is executed, there is no response. There is also no icon in the taskbar. Even after formatting and reinstalling, the same issue persists. However, in the Task Manager, it shows as running and consuming a large amount of memory, with memory usage at 24,072 MB. It was working fine until recently, but suddenly stopped functioning. I would like to know the cause and how to resolve it.

Hello @초보자, and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If HP Performance Advisor is showing in Task Manager but not launching or displaying an icon, and is consuming excessive memory (24 GB), it may be due to a corrupted configuration, outdated dependencies, or a compatibility issue with recent Windows updates.

Here are some steps to help resolve the issue:

Ensure HP Support Assistant is Installed and Updated

HP Performance Advisor relies on components from HP Support Assistant. Please ensure it's installed and updated:

Run as Administrator

Sometimes, the app fails to launch due to permission issues.

  • Right-click on the HP Performance Advisor shortcut.
  • Select Run as administrator.

Clear Configuration Cache

Corrupted configuration files can prevent proper launch.

  • Navigate to:
    C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\HPPerformanceAdvisor
  • Delete or rename the folder (e.g., HPPerformanceAdvisor_backup)
  • Relaunch the application.

Check .NET Framework Installation

HP Performance Advisor requires .NET Framework 4.5 or later.

  • Open Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off
  • Ensure .NET Framework 4.8 is enabled.
  • If not, download it from Microsoft .NET Downloads

Update Graphics Drivers

Outdated or incompatible GPU drivers can cause UI rendering issues.

  • Use HP Support Assistant or visit your GPU vendor’s site (Intel/NVIDIA/AMD) to update drivers.

Check for Background Conflicts

Some third-party apps (like antivirus or monitoring tools) may interfere.

  • Try launching in Safe Mode with Networking.
  • If it works, perform a clean boot to identify the conflicting app: How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Reinstall HP Performance Advisor

If the issue persists even after formatting:

  • Uninstall the current version.
  • Download the latest installer from HP official site or your workstation’s support page.
  • Reinstall and test again.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
