Yes, that was the easiest way to do it.

You can also do it this way...Clean install W10 and activate it with the W8.1 product key embedded in your PC's BIOS.

You are now an expert at installing Windows, so go ahead and install W10 the same way.

You will be asked what version of W10 you want to install. 

Select W10 Home if you just had the standard version of W8.1.

Then you will be asked to enter a product key.

Select the 'I don't have a product key option.

When you get to the part of the installation that asks, 'Where do you want to install Windows,' delete every partition on the hard drive, leaving just one partition of unallocated space.

Click next, and W10 will install.

Then download and run the free Showkey Plus app from the Microsoft store.

Click in the Windows icon on the lower left of the taskbar>Settings>Update & Security>Activation>Change Product Key.

A window will open for you to enter a product key.

Enter the 25 character OEM product key from the Showkey Plus report and you should be able to activate Windows with the key.

As, I had written the other day, the only driver you should need will be the W10 audio driver, which I have already given you in my 1st reply to your post.

Hopefully that will work and it may resolve some of the other issues you are having.

If not, or W10 won't install...I raise the white flag of surrender.

Regarding another way you mentioned to install Win10 : "Clean install W10 and activate it...", do I have to make bootable USB flesh drive first ? Because I never saw those options you mentioned in your last reply when I installed Win10 by running that downloaded tool directly.

Hi:

Sorry I forgot about that.

You have two options:

1. Use Rufus to transfer the W10 ISO file you downloaded to your USB flash drive so that it is bootable and select the GPT partition table.

2. Use the media creation tool and create a bootable USB installation flash drive with the tool automatically.

The tool will download the W10 installation file and automatically transfer it to the USB flash drive for you.

Hi Paul,

It always shows a black screen with a message "511 CPU Fan not detected"  and "F1 boot" when the PC restarts or turns on. But I saw the fan on cpu is running. Does that mean cpu have a problem ? Searched it online for the solutions. some of them I already tried before I saw this message few weeks ago, but not working.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with that problem, and I suggest that you start a new discussion. 

If the fan is working, it's possible that either the processor or motherboard has a problem.

It even failed when I tried to make a bootable USB installation flash drive by using that media creation tool on this desktop. I tried to make it on another laptop, it was success. But Win10 installation was failed again by using bootable USB. I think the desktop has other unknown hardware, such as cpu, problems. I decided to abandon desktop, because it is too old.
