HP Desktop - 110-414
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Have HP 110 desktop computer running Windows 8.1. Need to upgrade to Windows 10 or 11. However, BIOS version is 9/26/2014 and needs to be BIOS version after 2016.  How do I upgrade BIOS on this desktop?

Hi:

You have to know the BIOS SSID for your PC's motherboard which should show up in the system information window.

There are 3 different BIOS updates on your PC's support page under the W8.1 driver section.

HP Desktop - 110-414 Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support

You need to choose the one that matches your PC's BIOS family SSID: ROM Family 2AFB, ROM Family SSID 2B28 or ROM Family 2B29.

Thank you for your prompt reply. The HP Support page is unhelpful and spools (20+ minutes) on attempting to determine software results. How do I find the BIOS SSID? the motherboard info? Thanks.

You're very welcome.

HP recommends that you use Microsoft Edge to access the support pages.

I had zero problems getting to the support pages using Microsoft Edge.

Unfortunately, I don't know exactly where to find that information regarding the SSID of your BIOS.

I only own HP and Dell business desktop PC's and I can find that information in the BIOS's setup menu--usually right in the system information section.

You may also be able to find it in the Windows System information app.
