Every once in a while I see a black message window from HP, something about sending usage data every once in a while.  Forgive me for not taking a snap shot of it.  I am tired and it happens when I least expect it, but figured that someone would know something about it.

I "think" it shows up after I get done using the internet sometimes, but that might be a coincidence.

I did try to do some research on this but the only thing that came up was a potential known key logger issue, but the only thing I could find info for was for HP laptops affected.

I work at home for a living and I do not want any usage data going to HP because the company I work for is serious about security on our computers.

Can you please advise?

Thanks,

-fryer

@fryerlawrence,

Thank you for posting this on HP Support Forums!

I see from your post you're having issues related to Keylogger. No worries, I'll be glad to help you.

This keylogger issue is specific to some specific laptops and not to Desktops.

In this scenario, I would personally suggest you share the screenshot of the issues as this will help me in providing you with better solution.

Alternatively, I would suggest here is to try these steps which should help you in resolving the issue.

I would suggest here is to Run Windows Updates troubleshooter -

Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.

Now try to perform a Windows update:

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

that said, If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
