I do NOT find Windows 10 to be user-friendly. You seem to have to have 500 passwords for 100 things and remembering them is a chore. I have things on here that I will never use and the things that I do use that supposedly came loaded on the computer I've had to pay extra to download (Office is a prime example). I find it a pain in the butt to navigate anything on here. I want to go back to a simpler time...

@Valkyrie1968 -- first, if your computer was "designed for Windows 7 or 8 or 10", it is not likely that HP will supply device-drivers for the HP hardware to work under a 2004-vintage operating system -- XP.
On my Windows 10 system, there is one password to "logon" (it is my "Microsoft Account" password).
There is a different password for my E-mail ID.
There is a different password for all by Google services (E-mail, cloud).
Because I participate in this discussion forum, there is another ID/password.
Because I use Apple's iTunes, and an Apple iPhone, I have an ID & password.
My iPhohe has a 6-digit code to unlock it.
I cannot think of another 490+ passwords to other systems & services.
Have you tried upgrading to Windows 11?

Hello
you do not give the model of your computer
but it must be quite recent!
It's not just a driver problem, you won't be able to go back to windows XP, the computer is not designed for
Even if you manage to install it, you will not be able to use the computer correctly, most of the applications, programs, are no longer updated
you would risk, big security problems, unless you are very careful
To install windows 11, I do not recommend it, because it will not be better than windows 10, and you risk other problems
especially, if you are not used to new computers
Take your time, learn to use it, even if it's confusing, you'll have to learn
If you have particular problems, ask for help on forums, internet communities, like here
Xp was fine, but you have no choice

Thanks for confirming what I wrote.
It gives additional information to the author that trying to install and use XP is not recommended.
P.S. The first Windows 11 Insider Preview build was released to the Dev Channel in June 2015.
So, Windows 11 has been steadily improved in over 6 years.
If your computer hardware meets the requirements to run Windows 11, I recommend that you install it.
Microsoft's support for Windows 10 will end in October 2025.
After that time, you will need to install Windows 11 to get support from Microsoft, e.g., security-fixes.

I get you don't like Windows 10, but your comments on the issues and expectations regarding Windows XP are ludicrous!
I use Win10 and use only ONE password to login -- this would be the same with XP.
The only other passwords I need are for websites on which I have accounts -- but this would be the same with XP.
The Office version that came preloaded was a free Trial -- you had to PAY for the full version -- but this has been the same for over 10 years! Going back to XP will not get you a free version of MS Office.
Admittedly, navigation is a problem compared with XP because so much has changed, but you can install a shell product like Open-Shell or Start10 that will make Win10 look much like Win7. I would try that before forcing an obsolete version of Windows onto a working PC.
I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor represent, HP

If I tell you not to install windows 11, it's up to you
But I am using windwos 11, I installed it to test...
It won't make any difference to you, if you are not satisfied with windows 10
Afterwards, it's up to you to see, if the computer is compatible, go ahead, but I warn you that it's not without risk, and it won't change your problem.
We all agree, windows xp, it is not possible with a computer designed for windows 10
Warning
Windows 11 on devices that don't meet minimum system requirements
We risk having serious problems, probably updates, security problems, we do not really know what else
If the installation goes well for some, for others it can be complicated

Think carefully, before taking the risk, see the experiences of other users, see if it can be interesting, or if you can wait to have a new computer later, 100% compatible!
Windows 10 remains one of the best systems, and can be used for quite a while.
I have performed the installation with a compatible computer ..
And I can not take full advantage of the more or less interesting features, because you have to have a certain material
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11-specifications
So far, so there is nothing extraordinary about this system
So if the computer is not compatible, you have little interest in using it ..
In some cases, we can have more problem than something else (performance etc), it is better to wait until most of the bugs are solved.
And even better to have a 100% compatible computer, in order to be able to take advantage of the available features
Now, if you want to give it a try, first plan to use specialized software, and make a ghost copy of your installation.
it can be a little complicated at first, but as i told you, learn how to use windows 10
If you've ever struggled with a computer, don't venture into the unknown
I've been using windows 11 for a while, and I still sometimes have trouble finding what I want:
