I haven't had to look for downloads for older machines in a while and the HP support site has changed considerably since then. I'm working on an in-law's Pavilion p6000 series model: p6716f, and cannot locate downloads for this machine at all. I really only need a BIOS update file as the machine is running the original 6.06 (03/22/2011) version.
Please let me know if I need to provide more info about this machine.
Thank you!

Hi, @amjnw
According to the parts list for your PC, it has the Alvorix motherboard.
Here are the info and exe file links to the last update HP released for PC's with the Alvorix motherboard:
Info: 6.11 25 Jun 2012
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57001-57500/sp57391.html
Exe:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57001-57500/sp57391.exe
WARNING: As you can see from the release notes the update was designed to be run on Windows Vista or Windows 7.
Since you are running W10 which is an unsupported operating system to run the BIOS update on, I have no idea what will happen if you try and update the BIOS in W10.
It may work fine, or it may turn your PC into an expensive doorstop.
Update the BIOS in W10 at your own risk.
I recommend that you install W7 and then update the BIOS.

hi
Although this does not change the risk, if you have windows 10, in general it takes a little simple manipulation!
Already used by other users here
Solved: Re: BIOS update not available from HP - HP Support Community - 8231573
The less risky, install windows 7, but it can be tedious, it would be necessary to save the whole system in place, before, at best use a blank HDD, so as not to touch the other ..
The risk is still relevant that the bios blocks the computer
it is just mentioned
FIXED:
- Resolves issues with executing system recovery.
Is the risk / constraint worth it, I doubt it!

Thank you for the assistance. The update ran just fine under Windows 10. I also appreciate you for including the links to the ftp server. I'd tried accessing the server via http before and got the dreaded "Forbidden" message. I tried accessing the server from a terminal with a proper ftp client and was granted access, so thanks for piquing my curiosity to try that, as well.

Thank you for the links! The update worked out just fine. I know the update was released to address executing the system recovery, but I can't imagine the update not including previous fixes, as well. That has historically been the case with BIOS releases.
Thanks, again!

You're very welcome.
Glad the BIOS update ran successfully in W10.
In order to access the HP ftp server, you either have to use Internet Explorer or Edge in Internet Explorer mode.
Then to give you the links, I had to first copy the URL to notepad and edit the address from ftp to https.
This what the first link I gave you looks like when unedited, and it will not open using Edge.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57001-57500/sp57391.html
You cannot edit the main ftp address.
At least I haven't been able to.
I have tried it before with negative results.
I keep getting a 'Forbidden' error.
