Product: HP Envy 700-400 desktop
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Need Win 8 Product code to reinstall Win 8 on replacement hard drive in HP Envy desktop (2014 vintage) Original 2TB hard drive failed completely.  Have Windows 8 discs that came with computer, but no product code.

Hi:

 

The product key is in the BIOS.

 

You don't/won't need it to reinstall from the disks that came with the PC.

No, Win 8 product code not to be found in the Bios for an HP Envy 700-400 series desktop.  Downloaded and installed Win 10 instead.

The Product key is embedded in to EPROM chip, according to HP.

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..
