Before I got this message, I discovered that the Windows Fax and Scan was still available. So I no longer needed to access HP Scan assistant. That solved my problem, since I had used that on several occasions previously. But I'm glad to know that the community does work and that others pick up on the problems shared there.

When was the last time it worked fine?
