I want to use my function keys without having to use the fn key.  There are literally tens of thousands of HP postings telling you to go into BIOS and my BIOS looks nothing like what I see.  Plus the fn and left shift key.... equally useless.  The HP articles also show a little blue light on the fn key.  My keyboard does not have such light like the caps lock key does.

I spent 40 minutes with HP support... absolutely useless.  They told me to go to the shoppers for technical support.

Thanks HP

Great... can't even upload the pictures of my BIOS on this crappy board.

Can you purchase and use a keyboard that does not have a "FN" key?

Note that all images that you upload must be "approved" by a moderator, before they become visible on the board. Is that your issue?

hi
unfortunately the only possible solutions currently are software, or hardware replacement
There is a solution, but that is to block the key, and you may break the keyboard
Unfortunately either this is not suitable or user feedback

The documents which one can find mentioning that it is necessary to modify the bios, are for laptops, that is why there is often confusion.
