In the device Manager window, expand DVD/CD-ROM drives, right-click the CD/DVD/Blu-ray drive that is listed, and then click uninstall. Click OK to confirm that you want to remove the device. Restart your computer (Once the restart is complete, the Operating system will automatically install the required devices)

@clarkfl2 -- PC will not read DVD or CD. How can I fix it?

When you push the open/close button, does the tray open/close, to show that the CD/DVD is getting electrical power?

  1. Open the tray. Insert a disk with a label (or felt-pen writing) on it, and rotate the disk so that the label is in a definite position.  Compare to turning a book so that it is "right-side" up, to make it easiest to read it.
  2. Close tray. Do you hear the disk turning? If not, maybe the motor that spins the disk is not working.
  3. Open the tray. Is the disk still rotated to the exact orientation as in #1, above? If so, the disk has not been spinning.
  4. Does Windows do anything, such as open the Windows "File Explorer", or produce an error-message like "insert disk" ?  If the latter, the laser that reflects off the surface of the disk is not working, and/or the electronics that read the reflection from the laser is not working.

Usually, it is very much easier to spend $20 to $30 on a new CD/DVD reader/writer, and install it yourself, because there are no replaceable parts inside the CD/DVD. Why pay a computer technician $60 to $80 to "trouble-shoot", when you can just replace it, for less than half that cost.
