Hi @Jane332
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To pin a favorite website to your taskbar in Windows, the method varies slightly depending on the browser you're using. Below are the steps for pinning a website to the taskbar in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox:
1. Pin a Website to Taskbar Using Google Chrome:
Open Google Chrome and go to the website you want to pin (e.g., your favorite site).
Click the three-dot menu (⁝) in the top-right corner of the browser.
Go to More tools > Create shortcut.
In the dialog that appears, name the shortcut if desired and check the box that says Open as window (this will make the website open in its own window, like an app).
Click Create.
Now, open the Start menu and find the shortcut you just created (it should be under "All Apps").
Right-click on the shortcut, then select Pin to taskbar.
Alternatively:
- After clicking Create, the website shortcut may automatically appear on your taskbar if you have pinned items there.
2. Pin a Website to Taskbar Using Microsoft Edge:
- Open Microsoft Edge and go to the website you want to pin.
- Click the three-dot menu (•••) in the top-right corner.
- Select More tools > Pin to taskbar.
- The website should now appear as an icon on your taskbar for quick access.
3. Pin a Website to Taskbar Using Mozilla Firefox:
Firefox doesn’t have a direct option to pin websites to the taskbar in the same way Chrome and Edge do. However, you can use these workarounds:
Method 1: Create a Desktop Shortcut for Firefox
- Open Firefox and go to your desired website.
- Click on the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner of Firefox to open the menu.
- Choose More tools > Add to desktop.
- A shortcut will be created on your desktop.
- Right-click on the desktop shortcut and select Pin to taskbar.
Method 2: Pin the Website Using the "Windows App" Method:
- Open Firefox and go to the website you want to pin.
- Click the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner and select Web Developer > Application.
- In the Application tab, click on Install (some websites have an "install" option like progressive web apps (PWAs), which can be pinned to the taskbar).
4. Pin a Website to Taskbar Using Edge or Chrome Progressive Web Apps (PWAs):
Some websites (like Google Docs, Gmail, Trello, etc.) are available as Progressive Web Apps (PWAs). When a website supports PWA, you can install it like an app and pin it directly to the taskbar.
- Open Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge and navigate to the website.
- In the address bar, you’ll often see a small + icon (or you can go to the menu and choose Install or Install as App).
- Click that icon or the install option.
- The website will be installed like a native app, and you can now right-click the app in your Start menu or App list and select Pin to taskbar.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
