OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop PC GT15-0000i RCTO Base Models (LaprasI)

My computer updated automatically last night, and now my D Drive (1 TB WD Black PCIe NVMe TLC M.2 SSD) is missing from my computer. I tried the following methods to recover it:

- Opened Device Manager and looked through all drivers (hidden and visible), but it was not present in any instance

- Tried updating visible drivers, but it did nothing

- Opened CMD and looked at diskpart>list volume, but it didn't show up there

- Opened Disk Management and looked for unnamed/unallocated drivers, but none were present

- Opened BIOS, but drive was not present

- Updated BIOS but driver was still not present

- Physically disconnected and reconnected my SSD drive and any cables from my computer then checked all the above again

- Restarted my computer

- Reset my computer

- I tried but was unable to reset my computer to before the update

Is there anything else I could try?

Hi @LoveAllChickens,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Physical Connections: Ensure that the SSD is properly seated in its slot on the motherboard. Sometimes hardware issues are simply a matter of loose connections.

Check BIOS/UEFI Settings: Restart your computer and enter BIOS/UEFI settings. Make sure that the drive is recognized here. If not, it may indicate a hardware problem.

Reinstall SSD Drivers: Even though you checked drivers, you might want to specifically reinstall drivers for the SSD controller. Visit the HP support website or the SSD manufacturer's website to download the latest drivers.

Update Chipset Drivers: Make sure that your system chipset drivers are updated, as this could affect the recognition of the SSD.

Roll Back Windows Update: If the issue started after a Windows update, consider rolling back the update to see if the drive reappears.

Check Windows Storage Spaces: Sometimes drives configured as part of Windows Storage Spaces can disappear if there are errors or misconfigurations post-update.

Rescan for Hardware Changes: In Device Manager, select 'Action' > 'Scan for hardware changes'. This might prompt the system to recognize the SSD.

I hope this helps.
