Hello there.

I was just revisiting a discussion about the contents of the SWSETUP file and whether or not one could clean in up or delete it. The reason I went looking for an answer is that mine has slowly grown to 18GB on my 128GB SSD C drive. No problem in itself so far, but one day maybe.

I read, with interest, the opinions from you sages, and as it was 2018 since the string was created, so thought I would check what the current wisdom is.

I note that software updates manually downloaded from HP, and not obtained using the HPSA, also appear in this file.

So - what's the best thing to do with the contents of the SWSETUP file?

Regards to all. T from P.

Hi:

That file folder contains all of the driver and most of the program installation files that came with your PC, as well as any driver files you have downloaded from HP and installed on your own.

It is completely safe to delete this folder, but before you do, copy the folder to a portable hard drive in case you need to reinstall one of the programs or a driver that is not on your notebook's support page for some reason.
