Hi. After latest BIOS update or the latest windows update (both happened on same day) when I put my PC into sleep mode, after a while, the back light comes on. The screen is blank but is emitting some light, not completely black and turned off as it used to be.

Hi @NoHurryHarry,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand how frustrating it can be when your PC isn't behaving as expected after an update, especially when it's something as important as sleep mode. Let's try to get to the bottom of this issue and restore your system’s proper functionality.
- Did you notice any other changes in system behavior after the updates, such as fan noise or wake-up times?
- Have you checked the power settings to see if any new options were enabled or changed after the updates?
- Does the issue persist if you manually turn off the monitor instead of putting the system to sleep?
Check Power & Sleep Settings:
- Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.
- Ensure that "Turn off display" and "Sleep" are set correctly.
- Click Additional power settings > Choose what closing the lid does (if applicable) and verify settings.
Disable Wake Timers:
- Open Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Click Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
- Expand Sleep > Allow wake timers and set it to Disable.
Rollback or Reinstall Display Driver:
- Right-click Start > Device Manager > Display adapters.
- Right-click your GPU (Intel or NVIDIA) and select Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver, if available.
- If rollback isn’t available, uninstall the driver and reinstall the latest version from HP’s support site.
Modify BIOS Settings:
- Restart your PC and enter BIOS by pressing F10 during boot.
- Look for power management settings such as "Wake on LAN," "USB wake," or "Modern Standby," and try disabling them.
- Save changes and exit BIOS.
Perform a Power Drain and Reset:
- Shut down the PC completely and unplug it from power.
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge residual power.
- Plug it back in and boot up to see if the issue persists.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, consider checking Windows Update for optional updates or performing a system restore to a point before the updates.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
