Windows 11 Insider Preview Feature Update (26220.7535). This update is not installing even though I have enough storage and Windows 11 Pro

Hi Surjai2015

Because this build is part of the 25H2 development branch for the Dev and Beta channels, it sometimes runs into "update loops" or service hangs that the standard troubleshooter can't always catch.

Here are the most effective ways to force this specific update to install:

1. Reset the Windows Update Cache (Most Effective)

Sometimes the update files download partially or become corrupted. Wiping the "SoftwareDistribution" folder forces Windows to start the download from scratch.

  1. Type cmd in your Start menu, right-click it, and select Run as Administrator.

  2. Run these commands one by one (hit Enter after each):

net stop wuauserv
net stop bits
net stop cryptsvc
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start bits
net start cryptsvc

3. Restart your PC and try checking for updates again.

2. Repair System Files

Since Insider builds are more prone to system file corruption, a quick scan can often unblock the installation process.

  1. Open Command Prompt (Admin) again.

  2. Type the following command and press Enter:

    DOS

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  3. Once that finishes, type this and press Enter:

    DOS

    sfc /scannow
  4. If it finds and repairs files, restart and try the update.

3. Check your "Get the latest updates" Toggle

For Build 26220.7535, Microsoft is using a "controlled feature rollout." If your update is stuck at 0% or failing immediately:

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update.

  • Ensure the toggle "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available" is turned ON.

  • Microsoft has noted that some fixes in this specific build require this toggle to be active to "pull" the update correctly.

I hope the above is helpful

If this helped you solve your problem, please mark my answer as the solution. Thank you.
