HP Desktop PC M01-F3000a (6G6E5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I've been wanting to upgrade this PSU with either a regular standard PSU so 20+4 pin power plug and 6+2 cpu power plug to a my M01-F3000a for an RX 6600, problem is, 24 cannot fit into a 4 pin power connector that is shown on the pc, and same goes for the CPU's 4 pin power connector, and i'm trying to find a way to make it work without using 24 pin to 4 pin adapters or vice versa, I don't know any other options and i would like help.

@awhlure,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Your HP Desktop PC M01-F3000a (6G6E5AV) only accepts HP-proprietary power supplies, and there is no power adapter available either.

In order to power an RX 6600, you'll need to upgrade your power supply to this 400-watt unit, with p/n: L04618-800 (alternatively: 942332-001).

You can purchase one of these 400-watt power supplies online, such as via this trusted eBay Seller: New 400W Power Supply 942332-001 PSU For HP 280 288 285 480 600 680 800 G3 G4 US | eBay.

@awhlure,

Yes, an RX 6600 with a 132-watt TDP can be powered by a 400-watt power supply: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-6600.c3696.

If you want a little extra power, go for the compatible 500-watt power supply with HP p/n: L05757-800.

If your friend would be so kind to show us how to connect an industry standard ATX power supply to your HP Desktop M01-F3000a Desktop PC, we would definitely be interested to know how.

@awhlure,

Yes, as a matter of fact, you can hook up an external ATX power supply to your PC using an ATX 24-pin to 15-pin SATA power supply sync adapter, like the one shown here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/285732109555?_skw=PSU+ATX+24Pin+to+15Pin+SATA+Dual+PSU+Power+Supply+Sync&it....

You connect the ATX power supply's 24-pin power cable to this power adapter, connect a 15-pin SATA power cable from your motherboard to the power adapter, and then you can power your graphics card using the ATX power supply's PCIe power cable(s).

But mind you, this setup does not replace your OEM HP power supply, it only syncs the ATX power supply with your PC, so that when you power up your PC, the ATX will power up simultaneously, and powers your graphics card at the same time the rest of your PC is powering up as well.  And likewise, when you power down your PC, the piggybacked ATX power supply will power off with the rest of your PC.

I have applied this synced power supply approach on a number of PC upgrade projects, including this one: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrading-HP-EliteDesk-800-G5-S....

Personally, I have moved away from this particular power construct, but if it appeals to you, knock yourself out.

is there a video on this? and is it safe?

@awhlure,

I (still) couldn't find a decent video.  However, it is very easy to set up and I tried to explain how to use it a number of times, such as here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Do-any-psu-adapters-work-with-a....

And yes, in my experience it is safe: I did use it for a couple of years on four different HP desktops without any issues whatsoever.

Please Note: This power method is off the HP Reservation. HP does not endorse, recommend or promote this in any way, and you'll use it at your own risk and volition.
