Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I need your help pleaseeee. So I tried to open my computer since I have an on going project there, but it took so long to open and stuck, It kept saying disk error. I dont know what to do. I heard I have to open the cpu and fix something there? Is it right?. But my mom wont let me do it and says she will call the for repair it will come next next week! But I really need to pass my project the day after tomorrow, so is there anuthing I can do to fix it WITHOUT opening the cpu? Please help meee

Ps. iknow our computer is windows 7 but I dont know if it is 32 or 64 bit help please

Without a model number, it is difficult to give complete help but with a PC old enough to have Windows 7 installed, it must likely is a hard drive failure.  First disconnect everything except the monitor, keyboard and mouse and try again.  Also check that there is nothing in a card reader or disk (CD, DVD, etc) drive.  Then try again.  Depending on how old that PC is and if a laptop or desktop, try this to run the builtin diagnostics.  PC's older than 2003 might not have that ability.

To run the Diagnostics routine, Start tapping the Esc key BEFORE starting the PC and then press the start button.
Keep tapping the Esc key until a popup menu shows. Then pick Diagnostics from that popup menu, F2.
Report back with the results.
