I am unable to install Google Chrome since the windows 11 update. I know I am not installing incorrectly because other devices operation with windows 11 can install it without an alert saying something along the lines of Google can not be trusted.
I’ve been doing ok with bing just would like answers as to why I can’t use google.

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Can you download and install other software?

Try downloading and installing the Chrome standalone installation package, as an administrator, available Here.

hello @Bill_To,

Yes I can. I’ve even tried purchasing a brand new device and I am unable to. Administer, this happens even as an administrator as well.

I don't use Chrome. But I do use Brave and Firefox. I've never had a problem installing either browser using Windows Home or Pro versions.

You can install other software. Windows is only flagging Chrome. So you're not using Windows S.

Is Windows up to date?

Try turning off Windows Family Safety in Windows Security if you are using this.

@Bill_To

when I attempt to update to version 25H2, I get through the update and upon restarting the update is no longer stored. For a while I was getting an error about not being able to complete the update but no numbers or reference as to why.

Thank you for your help

My pleasure.

Okay, you are having other Windows problems besides installing Chrome.

What W11 version are you using?

You might be able to do a W11 in-place upgrade to the currently installed version of Windows you are running. Doing this should fix most, if not all, of the problems you are having.

The in-place upgrade will not move you to W11 25H2 but it can provide a successful path to upgrade to 25H2 and fix the Chrome problem.

Back up data on the system drive to be careful. A W11 in-place upgrade is not destructive but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Go to: Settings>System>Recovery. Now check to see if "Fix problems using Windows update" is available.

Run this option. It will reinstall Windows and keep your current settings. All software you have previously installed on the system should be retained.

You might want to check your PC's hardware before doing anything to verify a hardware problem is not causing problems.

Check your PC's hardware using HP Diagnostics as follows:

Start the PC. Repeatedly tap the "ESC" key.

Select "F2". Run extensive system and component tests to confirm: a drive problem, a memory problem, or other component problem.

You could also try a W11 in-place upgrade using W11 25H2 USB installation media if you can't do the in-place upgrade within your W11 version.

But is seems you may need to verify your PC's hardware is okay and fix the current W11 install before trying any upgrade method.
