I have 4GB of RAM installled but it states only 3.20GB usable. I have 4GB of Ram installed in the first slot of the 4 memmory channels. How can I overcome this problem if I want to install an extra 4GB will it still tell me that I only have 3.20 GB available.

Hi:
That is actually really good.
Sometimes the net usable memory can be as low as 2 GB usable out of 4 GB.
Some of the memory is going to run the video and other hardware components.
Installing another 4 GB memory module should at least double the net usable RAM.

Thank you Paul for your answer. I suspected it was or could be some sort of configuration problem with the bios or a bios update required. These RAM/Dimm channels on most hp products are known to take up to 32GB total.
Many Thanks for your reply franco_italy

Prego.
Yes, your specific model can take 4 x 8 GB of memory.
